I can’t believe Dr. Seuss Read Across America week is next week! So much to do so little time. I thought I’d share some of the fun things I’ve done with my kiddos in the past.
The kids can’t get enough of Dr. Seuss books! So make sure you have plenty of them in your classroom. It’s so nice to see how much these books inspire them. Before you know it they’re making up their own rhymes. It’s the cutest thing ever!
We couldn’t have Dr. Seuss Read Across America week without our Dr. Seuss string cheese thanks to our cafeteria staff! They’ve also had a bowl full of fish and the kiddos have to guess how many are inside. The winner gets a surprise! I’m excited to see what they have in store for us next week. We do a school wide Read Across America Week. Each day we have a themed day. This is so much fun! The kiddos really enjoy it!
Monday- “Fox and Socks,” Crazy Socks Day
Tuesday- “Green Eggs and Ham,” wear the color green
Wednesday- Wacky Wednesday
Thursday- “The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins,” Hat Day
Friday- “The Cat and the Hat,” Wear something red and white
I purchased a ton of Dr. Seuss books for my iPad. There are a couple that were free but they’re not pricey at all. I paid $3,99, for each book and it’s yours forever. The kids really love listening to the stories. There is a “read to me” option or I’ve also used this as a center and the kids read the books themselves 🙂
This is my most favorite bulletin board. The kids got a kick out of it too LOL! This is a freebie by the amazing Elsa from The Whole Wheat Class! Link Below 🙂

Every year my kiddos love these writing prompts. Like I mentioned before they get so inspired after reading Dr. Seuss books they start making up their own rhymes. I can’t wait to see what they come up with this year!

I have already started prepping for our fun filled week! We can’t begin Read Across America Week without doing an author study of our favorite author! If you’re looking for the perfect addition to your Dr. Seuss week please check out my paper saving booklet. It is the perfect resource with the right amount of information to honor Dr. Seuss. My kids really enjoy this little book and get so amazed to learn about the real Dr. Seuss.

You can’t possibly celebrate Dr. Seuss without dressing up! Having a fun team makes it even more enjoyable 🙂 Last year we had Dr. Seuss week during parent teacher conferences LOL. I was still pretty professional if you ask me 😉 Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have an exciting week. READ ON!!!
